Papagiannakos winery was founded in 1919 at Mesogaia of Attica. The warm Mediterranean climate and the fertile soils of Attica, are the driving forces that led grandfather Papagiannakos to fill the first barrel. Ever since the 1960s, the new Papagiannakos generation maintains and promote the high quality of wine production by adopting modern verification methods and redefining the wine making process. In 1992 the third generation takes the lead and having as a strong base the legacy of their predecessors, continues by implementing the most sophisticated verification' processes and building a magnificent new winery.
It is the first winery in Greece that is especially designed and built according to innovative bioclimatic standards. It is open to the public with an aim to initiate people ever more to the magic process of wine production without disturbing it.
The landscape of Attica vineyards is varying and made up of undulating gills and hidden streams. The terroir is a combination of clay, sand and gravel which enables rainwater to drain well and the air to circulate in the soil. The family owned vineyards are 50-60 years old, with low acreage yield and non-irrigated.

The grapes come from a 60 years old, non irrigated, vineyard of limestone soils that is not watered. The colour of the wine is bright gold. Its rich aromatic bouquet evokes aromas of tropical fruits, banana and pineapple, citrus fruit and orange peel, with almond notes that are divinely surrounded by mineral hints. Middle body mouth, with characteristic minerality and lively acidity. The long and persistent aftertaste is besieged by fresh fruity flavours with earthy notes. The grapes come from a 60 years old vineyard of mild cultivation and the fermentation is spontaneously accomplished without any interference or sulfites' supplementation. It is bottled unfiltered for preserving the rich arοmatic character of the variety. Its colour is bright yellow with white flowers' aromas and distinct botanical notes. A new unique version of traditional retsina, coming from Savatiano variety. During fermentation pine resin is added from selected pine trees of Attica. Intense botanical aromas of rosemary and thyme are combined with rich flavours of pine and lemon notes. Blond in colour and beautifully balanced, this wine speaks to the finest palate. The colour is bright golden with green sheens. In the bouquet aromas of mature apple and banana, harmoniously coexist along with citrus fruits and jasmine notes. Round and full mouth with refreshing acidity and notes of white pepper and discreet saltiness, that conclude to a floral aftertaste. Its colour is crystal clear gold. The complicated bouquet evokes aromas of lemon blossoms, citron and nuts with soft peach' notes and distinct minerality elements. In the mouth is lively, elegant, with refreshing acidity, moderate acidity and long lasting aftertaste where the zesty characteristics prevail.
The colour is dark deep red. Its aromatic bouquet is composed by aromas of gooseberry, sour cherry, nuts and vanilla with soft earthy notes. Round, rich mouth, but at the same time elegant with soft tannins and sweeter fruits' aromas. The spicy aftertaste is long and persistent.
Its colour is bright with purple sheens. The aromatic profile is irresistible, combining red and black fruits aromas with notes of vanilla, anise and pepper. The mouth is balanced, round with fine tannins and rich aromas of mature black fruits. At the end it leaves us with a pleasant buttery aftertaste.
Deep red colour with purple sheens. Elegant with sweet aromas of dried fruits, like cherry and plum, spices, discreet vanilla from the oak and pleasant floral notes. Velvety mouth with rich and soft tannins. Balanced acidity, while botanical aromas and notes of chocolate, appear and remain to a complex aftertaste.
Warm rose colour with orange sheens. The aromatic bouquet evokes red fruits aromas, as strawberry and raspberry with beautiful notes of caramel, pepper and night flower. Vinification commences by boiling and concentrating 40% of the grape must. The rest 60% ferments, while successive doses of the boiled grape must, are added. The colour is bright gold. A smoky, sweet wine, with an aromatic bouquet of ripe pineapple, flower honey dried fruits and a soft note of cedar. Graduated aftertaste with refreshing acidity. A perfectly balanced dessert wine.
